Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

My beautiful boys

New York’s Central Park in the Fall is like one huge panoramic Monet painting.  It’s simply breathtaking!  We had some time to enjoy the City before our interview on Fox and Friends for Prematurity Awareness Day on Tuesday.  Josh and Alex were picking up the vibrant leaves off the ground like a piñata just cracked open and a bunch of candy spilled all over the place!  Every moment was a perfect photo op – a perfect testament to a most special family outing.  On our way out of the Park back into the hustle and bustle of the City, we took the path that led under a tunnel.  There was a saxophone player playing a tune I can’t recall.  But what stopped me in my tracks was when he halted mid-note after he saw the boys coming and began playing a jazzy rendition of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”  Josh started humming and Alex skipped bopping his head side to side.  Stars have been a recurring theme in our lives since Josh’s early birth so this moment was not as serendipitous as it was poignant.  I reached into my wallet and dug out two dimes, handed one to each of my March of Dimes Ambassadors and watched them with tears in my eyes as they dropped the coins into the open saxophone case.  Proudly they ran back into my hands as they both turned and smiled at the man who graciously thanked them for their change.  I lived in the City for five years after college and spent many weekends strolling through Central Park wondering what my future would hold.  Never did I imagine I would be back 13 years later to the place I called my sanctuary with my loving husband and precious, healthy children.  It’s amazing how life takes its turns and how fate has a funny way of working.  But I wouldn’t change it for the world.
