Philadelphia is definitely The City of (Brotherly) Love

March 22, 2010

As soon as we stepped foot into Philly, we got a warm welcome from Michele Frennier, State Communications Director, Amanda Young, Executive Director and Brad Smith, March for Babies Director from the March of Dimes Philadelphia chapter office.  We put our suitcases in the trunk and set out into downtown for a 3pm visit to Health Partners.  Along the way Brad was pointing out sights for us to see just like a real tour guide!  We saw where all the sports teams play, tons of murals that were painted so beautifully (he told us Philly has the most murals next to Paris!), and even Independence Hall and the building where the Liberty Bell is!

Health Partners is the sponsor for the Kids Zone at the walk so they gave the March of Dimes a huge check.  It was the biggest check I’ve ever seen!  And they still raise even more money through all the people from their company who make up their walk team!  They are so awesome!

Look how big this check is from Health Partners to the March of Dimes!

Then we went to Wachovia/Wells Fargo who has raised over $10,000 locally for the past five years!  We met Clarence Hudson who is their amazing Team Captain.  We also met all of their top walkers and volunteers and they have the best way to raise money.  They have a carnival on the block across from their building!  How cool is that?

The awesome top walkers at Team Wachovia/Wells Fargo - in Philly!!!

Tonight was a planning meeting we went to for another March of Dimes fundraiser that’s happening not until November 19 but they’re starting to get ready now.  It’s Philadelphia’s Signature Chefs Auction and we had such a great time talking to all the chefs and chairs and so many amazing people we met who are working on the event to make it the best ever.  Look at some of the people.

This is Chef Tony. They said he makes the best cheesecakes and cheesesteaks!

With Dianne Linskey, Signature Chefs Coordinator, Campbells Soup Company is a Presenting Sponsor and they gave us cool aprons!

Here's Honorary Chef Chair Jean-Marie Lacroix and his lovely wife and James Dennis, State Director for Pennsylvania for the March of Dimes.

I had a great conversation with Dr. Kevin Dysart, neonatologist and Commmittee Chair with his great wife Joanne.

Alison and I are Campbells Tomato Soup twins!

We’ve been in Philly for 7 hours so far and we totally know why they call it the City of Brotherly Love.  We definitely feel the love!
